DEFRA minister Lord Benyon has said that separate food waste collections are the waste sector’s ‘biggest contributor’ towards reducing its emissions. The claim was made in reply to a written question on 3 February which was submitted by Lord Taylor of Warwick. Lord Taylor asked what steps were being taken to reduce any adverse effects of food waste on climate change.
Lord Benyon added that separate food waste collections would also help achieve zero waste to landfill.
