BBIA member Floreon, an award-winning producer of plant-based plastics, has recently been featured in a global patent protection case study by intellectual property law firm UDL.
The case study details how UDL filed patents for Floreon’s new heat resistant and flame retardant PLA-based material, securing a strong commercial position for Floreon as a result. Pointing to Floreon’s existing patent portfolio, the case study emphasises how this was complemented and enhanced by new patent applications. UDL states that both patent applications and granted patents are valuable company assets that enable businesses to secure an advantageous commercial composition against competitors, with these IP rights also significantly enhancing a company’s valuation and underpinning licensing deals and acquisitions.
The full case study can be found on UDL’s website.
