New BBIA member Fabbri Group has created Nature Fresh, the world’s first bioplastic certified compostable cling film for automatic and manual applications. It is available in rolls for automatic packaging or hand-wrap, cutter-boxes and jumbo rolls and can be composted at home or through industrial organic waste recycling.
Cling film is not widely recycled with more than 90 per cent of it ending up in landfill or being incinerated. As a bioplastic, Nature Fresh offers a real solution to this mounting plastic problem and can significantly help businesses reduce their plastic waste output.
Nature Fresh is biodegradable and compostable and, unlike other products now banned by the EU (oxo-degradable films), does not release any microplastics into the environment. It meets Industrial Compostability Standard EN 13432 with the product metabolising and converting into CO2, water and biomass within six months, it is also certified for home composting being able to completely biodegrade ready to be spread on your vegetable patch.
Nature Fresh is suitable for direct food contact with all types of foods including fatty ones. It offers effective protection against microbial contamination and high moisture vapour transmission rates. It can also be printed with compostable inks. Fabbri Group is also currently working on new non-food applications for the film.
