BBIA member the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC) has announced that it has established the Strathclyde Centre for Doctoral Training (SCDT) in Industrial Biotechnology.
Developed in collaboration with the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences and funded by the University of Strathclyde, industry and IBioIC, the centre aims to train the next generation of research leaders in Industrial Biotechnology.
IBioIC says that one of the great challenges faced by our society is the transition from an economic model reliant on fossil fuels to a sustainable, circular economic model based on the bio-economy. Industrial Biotechnology lies at the heart of this model and the training centre will deliver individuals with the skills necessary for the transition.
Initial research projects are in collaboration with IBioIC industry members GSK and Ingenza. Students will be supported via bespoke training opportunities to develop skills in entrepreneurship, scientific communication and other key skills in Biotechnology.
