Final report on RES URBIS project released

The European Commission Research Executive Agency has released its final report on the RES URBIS project, which finished last December.

Officially called REsources from URban BIo-waSte, the project, which ran from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2019, aimed to make it possible to convert several types of urban bio-waste into valuable bio-based products in an integrated single bio-waste refinery and by using one main technology chain.

The Research Executive Agency found that the project ‘fully achieved’ its objectives and milestones and has delivered ‘exceptional results with significant immediate or potential impact’.

The report stated that the project delivered ‘significant results’ with regard to valorisation of urban organic waste into bio-based products and great progress had been made on data collection, leading to the establishment of a suitable portfolio of products.
