The BioInnovation Growth mega-Cluster (BIG-C), initiated by the three cluster organisations BE-Basic (NL), CLIB (NRW, Germany) and FISCH (Fl), aims to transform Europe’s industrial mega cluster in the Flanders region of Belgium, The Netherlands and the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia into the global leader of bio-based innovation growth.

The kick-off meeting will be the start of a two-year scoping phase to develop novel concepts for feedstock-to-product value chains. Selected projects will be realised within the subsequent implementation phase (2018-2020). The BMBF will support CLIB2021 and German partners with up to EUR 4 million over the next 5 years.

Funding for the project has been funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of its ‘Internationalisation of Leading-Edge Clusters’ strategy.

BBIA members are invited to join the kick-off meeting and to become an active partner, with ideas for “Aromatics from woody biomass” or “C1 gases to chemicals” welcome.
