On 10 December BBIA wrote to the Treasury Minister responsible for the implementation of the Plastics Tax, Kemi Badenoch MP.

This was to point out that the tax unfairly penalises all compostable packaging as compostables are physically unable to contain recycled content.

Moreover, the tax penalises all food contact films as they are not allowed to contain recycled content, thereby becoming a tax on food rather than on plastic.

Her response addressed the four key areas of concern BBIA had highlighted. BBIA will continue to work on this issue in the coming weeks.
