Head of Global Market Development Biopolymers

As leader of the Global Market Development of Biodegradable Plastics at BASF, the Chemical Company, Jens is especially interested in the development of a bioeconomy. As a former Vice President of the European Bioplastics Association he has set up several associations for biodegradable plastics worldwide.

His award-winning research has examined the institutionalization of standards in the consumer goods industry. His research has been published in the Journal of Management Studies, Business & Society, the Journal of Supply Chain Management, Management International Review as well as in newspapers like The Economist or Handelsblatt. His case study on the palm oil value chain (co-authored with Prof. Daniel Corsten) is regularly used in the Executive MBA Program at London Business School, IESE, and Bocconi University.

A native of Germany Jens studied industrial engineering at ETH Zurich as well as electrical engineering with management studies at the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, London. He holds a degree in industrial engineering from ETH and completed his doctoral research at University of St. Gallen in collaboration with Nestlé Corporate Technologies, Vevey.
