Applications for the EFIB PitchFest must be submitted by 31 July.

Part of the European Forum for Industrial Biotechnology & the Bioeconomy (EFIB), the PitchFest is back for its second year, helping to raise awareness of investment opportunities in industrial biotech solutions whilst facilitating entrepreneurialism and creating a supportive environment for SMEs to help their business grow and innovate.

The PitchFest provides an opportunity for SMEs to deliver an ‘elevator pitch’ for their most promising products and processes to a panel of influential VCs in this space and to receive constructive feedback on how to maximise potential for investment.

The event will form part of a dedicated EFIB track session on Finance and Investment in Brussels on 11 October.

Pitches should be truly innovative, close to market and ambitious compared to what is already available. They should concern bio-based products or processes which respond to current consumer demands, have new functionalities compared to potential fossil based equivalents or which in other ways contribute to the furthering the EU bioeconomy, enabled by industrial biotechnology and/or related technologies.

Businesses applying for the event should be:

  • A Small Medium Size Enterprise (SME) according to European Commission definition.
  • An SME committed to the development of a circular bioeconomy agenda[2] and/or delivering on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Representing genuinely innovative technology or applications and currently seeking feedback on/investment for this.
  • Willing and available to participate in and present at the EFIB PitchFest session, should they be selected, on 11 October in Brussels.
